The membership of GRN is comprised of a wide range of individuals representing governmental, non-governmental and international organizations. Partners who have been involved in the historical development of the GRN have included:

    The Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) is a national, independent, not-for-profit, voluntary association representing public health in Canada with links to the international public health community. CPHA's members believe in universal and equitable access to the basic conditions which are necessary to achieve health for all Canadians. Established in 1909, CPHA is located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

    The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is one of the 13 major operating components of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which is the principal agency in the United States government for protecting the health and safety of Americans and for providing essential human services.     NIDA's mission is to lead the Nation in bringing the power of science to bear on drug abuse and addiction. NIDA was established in 1974, and in October 1992 it became part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services. NIDA staff are located in Rockville, Maryland.

    Led by the Chief Public Health Officer, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) plays a major role in a Canadian network of expertise and research in public health. The Agency coordinates federal efforts in identifying and reducing public health risks and threats and supports national readiness to respond to health crises. PHAC was created in 2004 in order to promote and protect the health of Canadians through leadership, partnership, innovation and action in public health. PHAC has offices in Ottawa, Ontario and Winnipeg, Manitoba.
